Working in the UK

In September 2013 Rosatom joined forces with Finnish utility Fortum and UK-based Rolls-Royce to explore building and operating VVER nuclear power plants in the UK.

They will work on preparation for a VVER reactor generic design assessment and assessing opportunities for licensing of a nuclear power plant construction site.

To facilitate this work, on 5 September 2013 ROSATOM and the UK's Department of Energy and Climate Change signed a Memorandum of cooperation. The meeting between Rosatom’s Director General, Sergey Kirienko and Minister of State for Energy of the Department for Energy and Climate Change of the United Kingdom, Michael Fallon.
