:Brevia is derived from the Latin verb 'to abbreviate' - apparently reflecting the agency's ethos of being straight-talking, quick and precise. Brevia MD David Beamer said: 'I expected to be presented with a shortlist of London streets or squares, but Figtree felt a descriptive name was the right choice.'<ref> [http://www.prweek.com/article/1108089/public-affairs-week-lobbying Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying], ''PR Week'', 9 December 2011 </ref>

Brevia Consulting is a lobbying consultancy, previously known as 'Politics Direct' until December 2011.

Rebranding

Brevia is derived from the Latin verb 'to abbreviate' - apparently reflecting the agency's ethos of being straight-talking, quick and precise. Brevia MD David Beamer said: 'I expected to be presented with a shortlist of London streets or squares, but Figtree felt a descriptive name was the right choice.'[1]

People

PoliticsDirect employs a number of influential political figures including the former Conservative MP Steven Norris and Peter Kellner, chairman of YouGov. It was co-founded by John Arnold and David Beamer who had backgrounds in the Labour and Conservative Parties respectively. Arnold is a former Chair of Scottish Labour Students, a former Adviser to the Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland. Co-founder David Beamer was a senior political adviser to the Conservative Party and worked with eight Secretaries of State on a range of policy briefs including Trade & Industry, Energy, Transport, Culture, Media & Sport, Deregulation and Health. Associate George Hall was also EU issue manager on eCommerce in the Trans Atlantic Business Dialogue.

The firm also groups together a number of consultants who were formerly journalists and have other business interests including in public relations. Francis Halewood, former editor of the BBC's World at One and a previous acting Director of Communications for the Conservative Party is an Associate, as is John Stonborough who specialises in media relations and was until 2004 Media Adviser to the Speaker and House of Commons Commission in the UK Parliament). David Seymour former Political Editor of the Mirror Group is another Associate.

Stuart Higgins ex-editor of The Sun is a former associate.
