Horst Teltschik

Horst Teltschik (1940-) is a German businessman and former political adviser. After studying politics, modern history and international law, and following a period as a university assistant, Teltschik worked at the headquarters of the Christian Democratic Party of Germany (CDU).

In 1972 he became an assistant to the then Minister-President of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Helmut Kohl, and accompanied Kohl’s later career as his foreign and security adviser, head of his personal office, and later Deputy Head of the Federal Chancellery. After German reunification, which he played a role in negotiating, Teltschik left politics and became CEO of the Bertelsmann Foundation (1991-1993), Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG (1993-2000), CEO of the Herbert Quandt Foundation (2000-2003) and President of Boeing Germany (2003-2006). From 1999 to 2008 he hosted the Munich Security Conference.[1]
