Charles Wellesley, Ninth Duke of Wellington was elected by fellow hereditary peers to sit in the House of Lords in September 2015.[1]

Wellesley stood for the House of Commons in 1974 and was elected to the European parliament in 1979 for two terms. he is a former commissioner of English Heritage and is currently chairman of the Council of King’s College, London.[1]
