Aly Shady

Aly Shady is one of the three founding members of the World Water Council (the two others being Abu-Zeid Mahmoud and Rene Coulomb). Shady is Senior Water Advisor at the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). He is past President of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA) (2003-06), inductee of a lifelong membership to the International Water Academy (IWA) in Oslo, Norway and founding member of the Arab Water Council.[1].

Shady has published over a hundred articles and has taught various university courses. Having worked on more than 185 major projects in more than 40 countries Shady is seen as one of the world’s leading international development advisors specializing in water policy.[2]. He has worked on various projects sponsored by the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation(FAO). He was recently awarded the gold medal of the World Water Council in the Hague. He is a member of the Club of Tokyo which is a neoliberal think tank made up of 14 of the leading water personalities/reformers.[3][4]
