Tim Walker is a former special adviser to the Labour Party[1] who worked as a lobbyist for Bell Pottinger before joining Verve Communications.

Background

From 1997 to 1998, Walker was special adviser to Labour MP Jack Cunningham in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF). He worked in the Cabinet Office from 1998 to 1999.[2]

Walker later worked as a public affairs manager at Turner Broadcasting (home of broadcasters CNN) before joining lobbyists Bell Pottinger Public Affairs (BPPA) as a board director in October 2001.[3] He was promoted to the position of Deputy Managing Director at BPPA in autumn 2005, to allow MD Peter Bingle to focus on accelerating the growth of the agency.[4]

In September 2006, Walker departed BPPA to join local government specialists Verve Communications as a director charged with developing new business and aiding financial planning. He commented that "I have helped grow a consultancy from 12 to 28 people and doubled its turnover; I would hope Verve has at least the same growth potential". Walker previously worked alongside Verve Managing Director Lorraine Langham while he was a councillor at Camden Council: Langham was then the borough's Director of Communications.[5]
