Nick Croft is the current coordinator, along with George Denholm, of the Scottish Preventing Violent Extremism Unit (SPVEU).

Nick Croft has worked in a variety of positions since 1990 “covering youth and community work, social work, mental health research, drugs prevention and residential day care”. Since 2003, he has worked in Scotland on “equalities, diversity and human rights issues in a local authority context and is [the] current equalities manager at City of Edinburgh Council”. [1]

In December 2007, he was seconded to the Scottish government to coordinate the Prevent strand of Contest, in close association with Association of Chief Police Officers Scotland (ACPOS) and the Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Unit (CTIU).
