Background

Diana Villiers Negroponte is described in the New Statesman as 'wife of John Negroponte, Bush's former national security chief notorious for his associations with death-squad politics in central America'[1]. She sits on the Advisory Board of the British American Project, is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution (where she focuses on Latin America), is on the Board of Trustees with Freedom House and is a Senior Scholar at the United States Institute of Peace. In the 1980s and again in 1997, Dr. Negroponte practiced international trade and aviation law with Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker. She also worked with the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico City where she was involved in the preparation for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Negroponte is also involved as a member of the Board of the Council of the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Women’s Foreign Policy Group. She is a member of Amnesty International, the Council on Foreign Relations and is chair of the Women’s Opportunity Network[2].
