The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is an operating arm of the British Ministry of Defence. Its role is to build, maintain and service the infrastructure needed to support defence, and manages a budget of billions.

Its chief executive is Graham Dalton, who was appointed November 2016.

Former staff

Richard McCarthy was chief executive until March 2015. After leaving the civil service he was appointed Executive Director at Capita Property & Infrastructure at Capita, which was a strategic business partner.

Contracts

DIO awarded Carillion a £90 million contract to design and build a new communications centre in Cyprus, which will be a single story building, approximately 10,000 square metres in area, with temperature and humidity controlled environments. Construction will start in April 2017 and be completed by the end of January 2019.
