Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit (BVL) is the German Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety.

BVL describes its role as follows:

In a network of European authorities, the BVL acts on enforcing the consumer protection laws based on EU standards. It thereby acts on the basis of Regulation (EC) No 2006/2004 on Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) and the EC Consumer Protection Enforcement Act... According to the EC Consumer Protection Enforcement Act, the BVL is the “single liaison office" in Germany for the European cooperation in consumer protection. At the same time, it is the competent authority for cross-border enforcement of a large number of consumer rights. [1]
