Maddalena Calia, MEP

Maddalena Calia (born 26 August 1958, Lula, Nuoro) is a former MEP from the former Christian democrat political party Forza Italia, who served for a year during the 6th term (12.09.2008 - 13.07.2009).[1]

  • Secondary school-leaving certificate in classical subjects, Giorgio Asproni School, Nuoro (1977).
  • Graduate in law, University of Cagliari (1985).
  • Became a qualified legal practitioner in 1990.
  • Christian Democratic Party (DC) activist from an early age.
  • Member of the Lula Municipal Executive (Province of Nuoro) with responsibility for social services (1988-1992).
  • Mayor of Lula (2002-2007).
  • Member of the Sardinian Regional Council's Committee on Equal Opportunities (1995-2001).
  • Head of the secretariat of the Sardinian Regional Council's Budgets, Credit and Spatial Planning Department (1999-2001).
  • Member of the AICCRE (Italian section of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions) National Council, Rome (since 2005).
  • Member of the AICCRE National Executive, Rome (since 2006).
  • Member of the ANMIC (national civilian disabled and invalids association), Rome (since 2006).
