Itai Brun is the head of the Israeli Military Intelligence research and analysis division, as of 2013.[1]

At a lecture to the Institute for National Security Studies in April 2013, Brun stated that the Bashar Assad regime in Syria had repeatedly used chemical weapons in that country's civil war.[2]

The Times of Israel reported:

“To the best of our professional understanding, the regime has used lethal chemical weapons,” he said of President Bashar Assad’s Syria, noting that the IDF believed the toxic element was Sarin, a nerve agent far more deadly than cyanide, and that it had been used on more than one occasion, including in a specific attack on March 19.[1]

In late August 2013, Brun was part of an israeli security delegation to Washington for talks with US officials led by National Security Adviser Susan Rice.[3]
